Surfers Hit the Coast for 10-12 foot Surf
including La Jolla Shores, Swami’s and Windansea Beach!
(see video highlight surf clips below)
When a high surfer advisory was given on Sunday and Monday I knew that Wednesday would be crossed off for going out and hitting the coast to check out one of those 2-3 times a year days where the surf is huge and the wind is low and there is NO RAIN!
Add in the fact that there was a Santa Ana with 85-90 degree sunny weather and now you can see why the entire coastline was lined up with surfers and onlookers and big wave surfers suited up for waves ranging from 8-12 feet in size.
The waves did not start hitting full size and peak form until about 11-11:30 but once they did the rides and wipe outs were ON and the action was great.
The day started off and Windansea but since it still was not fully pumping we headed north to La Jolla Shores just as it was getting bigger and then to Swami’s beach in Encinitas when the full swell arrived and waves started hitting their 12 feet+ peek size.
Waves were still big going into sunset at Windansea and shooting footage from the classic grass hut shack while watching an amazing was awesome!
San Diego is the best place to live in the world and one day playing hooky hanging on the coast watching some great surf stunts and downright crazy rides and wipe outs is always fun.
